THE GODS ARE OPEN TO SUGGESTION

Have you ever seen a leaf in the Fall, a faded-red leaf, just hanging there in mid-air, suspended between life and death, no strings, no wind to speak of, maybe a little breeze, a little fluttering, but otherwise perfectly still, like somebody pressed the pause-button, freeze-frame, a little time out before it falls to earth and joins the general mulch, or maybe, just maybe there’ll be a sudden gust of wind to take it on one final adventure, before it surrenders to the natural laws of gravity, out of its’ control, for the moment just hovering there between life and death, maybe hoping beyond hope for one final adventure……?

That’s where we need to keep ‘em, suspended, hoping beyond hope for one final great adventure that’ll make the whole thing seem worthwhile, it’ll put everything into perspective, they need to see it from our perspective, your perspective, people need perspective, they need an angle, we don’t enter this world in a circle, we enter it from an angle, enter it in a circle you’ve already finished before you began, you need to give ‘em a signature point-of-view, lay it on ‘em in the opening few minutes, let’ em know where you’re coming from, where they’re coming from, they’re coming from out of your mind, which is now their mind, you’ve invaded their mind, occupied their mind, now you need to keep their mind occupied, always wanting more, expecting more, craving more, suspended between life and death, the stakes need to be that high, hope and expectation on a grand scale, humanity’s soul on the line, I want King Lear and Hamlet at the same time, Romeo and Juliet, Macbeth and the Comedy of Errors, I want The fucking Tempest in full force! Give me the moon, mother! And I will show you fear in a handful of dust!!

Are you with me? Are you catching my drift, whatever-your-name-is? A name by any other name just a name till it’s a brand then you got a brand new name, a credit to your name, you got a product to sell, people see your name they know what they’re getting, though in your case they don’t wanna know what they’re getting, just need to know they’re gonna get suspended and all a’ fluttering in place hoping another gust o’ wind gonna fly ‘em off into another great adventure, into an unknown world that defies and defines itself at the same time, same world just from a different point-of-view, your point of view, our point of view, cause if we don’t see it from your point-of-view, if we’re not defying and defining the same world, if we ain’t got no mutually satisfactory perspective, then you don’t have no product to sell, cause we got the bigger brand name, we got the power to materialize your mind and sell it to the world, without us you’re just a name by any other name, may as well surrender to the general mulch…If we ain’t on the same global page here….We ain’t buying no commercial for somebody else’s soap-opera! We’re here to defy gravity, define the world. which ain’t natural no more, supernatural

You ready to pitch? You want superhuman residuals comin’ outta your wazoo or you happy just to take a regular shit? You’ve got three minutes. My time is precious! I’m listening, hit me with your best shot!

“So, anyway, I’ve got this idea - not so much an idea more an imaginative leap.. There’s this hedge-fund guy, billionaire, raised poor but now lives in a big mansion, all the works.. He’s a genius of risk-management, always seems to pay off.. Cashed in after 9/11, stole an idea from his partner, went solo…All that sublimated guilt defense on attack attack…And there’s this State’s Attorney, weakness for S and M… Wants to catch a big white-collar criminal fish, set his political ambitions in motion…governership, then who knows, right? These two locking horns, both prepared to do anything, both genius in their own way, corrupt but utterly competitive…American dream-stuff… Just how this world works… Who’s the hero, who’s the villain? Makes the world go round…We like ‘em both and we hate ‘em both…Who do we want to win? One minute—-”

——-OK, time’s up! I like it! get me a pilot outline and we may have a deal!
